So everyone knows weddings are expensive. I don't think anyone realises just HOW expensive until they have to plan their own wedding. Seriously. Jason and I have questioned our decision to have a wedding dinner several times over the past weeks and there've been countless of times we've toyed with the idea of flying to Vegas and having a drive-thru wedding.
We decided we wanted to plaster our faces on the fridges of the homes of everyone (important) we were inviting so for our save-the-dates, we had to have photos taken and I wasn't going to pay someone hundreds to thousands of dollars for it. Jason got me a Canon 7D for my birthday last(?) year, and it's brilliant camera so I decided that I was going to put it to good use. I ended up saving quite a bit of money!
Things I used for the photoshoot :
1. A tripod $100
2. Confetti balloon from Wulala <$20
Total : >$120
Totally would've been more than that if we hired a photographer!
Ka-ching!
We had so much fun on our shoot and I think that was truly priceless! We were laughing non-stop.
Here are some of the cannot-make-it-photos :
Dog just wouldn't cooperate.
Ka-plonk!
I totally need to work on my core.
Jason was not pleased he had to lift me so many times!
He kept saying, "Can you just get this right?!"
He's not happy I get to hold the balloon.
Trying to look cute while testing the camera.
Failing miserably at jump shots.
Ok, change plan, one person jump and pretend to be flying away..
Still failing...
And when all else fails, do a hair flip..
annndddd
you guessed it!
FAIL.
I'm quite surprised we managed enough good photos for our save-the-dates.
Ta-dah!
On her : Dress - Alice & Olivia
On him : Shirt - Fred Perry
