Things to Do in NYC

I've finally finished posting the last of the NYC photos. I decided to come up with a list of to-do's ,mainly for myself so I remember what to do the next time I go back, if ever I do go back but if you happen to be going to NYC, here's a good guide.

Places to eat

1. Luke's Lobster
It's at the top of my list cause it's just so good. They're generous with their lobster, which is so fresh you can taste the ocean, and it's very affordable at only $14.

Luke's Lobster can be found at East Village, 93 E 7th Street (1st Ave)

2. Norma's

3. Balthazar

4. Carnegie Deli (didn't get to eat there but it's famous for a reason!)

5. Shake Shack
Best burgers, ever. Try the milkshake as well.

Places NOT to eat
Hot dog stands.
Even though it's part of the NY experience, these stands are REALLY dirty and their hot dogs aren't fantastic either.

Places to visit/Things to do
1. The Met
Amazing amazing amazing art pieces

2. Times Square
It's a real cool place to have lunch. Take out from Carnegie Deli, walk over to Times Square, sit, eat and watch the world go by. There's free wi-fi too.

3. Watch Wicked.
THIS IS A MUST-SEE MUSICAL. I cannot emphasize it more. If you don't want to pay the exorbitant price of USD$280 for front row seats, go for the front mezzanine seats which are still pricey at USD$130 but you don't have to go hungry for the night. No photos allowed!

4. Toys-R-Us
For the child or the child at heart. The Toys-R-Us in Times Square is massive. 4 stories of fun.

5. Statue of Liberty
Take the Staten Island ferry. It's free, don't bother with the ellis island/statue of liberty boat ride. The queue to climb the statue is about an hour, the queue to get back on the ferry is another hour. Don't waste your time.

6. Ground Zero

7. Shop at Madison Ave
(if you have lotsa $$)

8. Tiffany & Co.
Whether you are just going to look, or going to buy something for me, this place is a have-to-see. 4 levels of jewelry. A girl's dream come true. Skip the fine jewelry and engagement rings floor to avoid rude stares and condescending looks.

9. Empire State Building
Where Chuck was gonna propose to Blair!! omgicopter! I didn't get to go up to the observatory deck, but I hear the view is fascinating.

10. Woodbury
If you like shopping, take the 1 hour ride out and 2.5hour ride back. Peak hour traffic is a real killer. You need an entire day for Woodbury.

Places you can pass on going
1. Maddam Tussaud's
If you have been to a Maddam Tussaud's museum, don't bother with this one.
If you haven't, it's quite interesting seeing what they can do with wax. It gets boring after a while.

2. The Central Park Zoo
We went cause we were asked to on behalf of a friend. It was actually quite fun, but the zoo was really tiny. We took only an hour to do a complete walk-through of the place. Nothing fantastic, nothing that I haven't seen before, with the exception of the red panda. If you do go, stay for the sea lion show, probably the only thing that was worth it.

Places you DON'T WANT TO GO
1. Ripley's Believe it or Not.
One word. BORING.
